Since I am at a loss on what to write and the usb port on this pc has gone haywire and I can’t transfer any pics and I happened to read this. So here goes…

Where did you meet your husband?

I met him during my foundation years in uni. Long story. I’m smiling thinking about it. Let’s just say it started with a look. We made eye contact.

Where was the first date?

Sunway Pyramid. Lunch at Dave’s Deli and a movie that I can’t remember. This was our first official date.

Did you have a long or short courtship/ engagement?

We met in 1998. We got engaged in April 2006. We got married in December 2006. This will be the 10th year that we’ve known each other.

Where did you get engaged?

At my grandmother’s home in Ampang. What was supposed to be just a simple do turned into something really really beautiful with the help of a husband and wife team wedding planner we were introduced to (like the week before!). Since they were just starting out, their price was really reasonable. The food was yummy, the decorations were really beautiful and the wedding planner herself did my makeup and made me look really pretty. She’s really recommended! It was a great day!

Where did you get married?

Our nikah was also at my grandmother’s home. This place has a lot of memories. Almost everyone from my mom and her siblings to my sister and me got married here. And I think most of us had the same imam as a witness. I used the same wedding planner. They really have great taste! Everything was beautiful. The setting was perfect. Everything went smoothly. Except for the fact that everyone was sweating profusely because there was no air-conditioning and someone turned off the fans so that the deco candles won’t blow out ;-)

How did the reception go?

The reception on my side was also held at my grandmother’s home. It was all smooth sailing. My wedding planners did a really teriffic job. I actually gave almost all of the responsibilities to them, from the decos, to the food, the pelamin, the flowers, the tents, to my dress and hubby’s outfit and the clothes for both of our pengapit and all of our accesories and makeup and hair, it was mostly everything except for the hantaran and gifts for the guests. And it was all still held within our budget. And I loved my photographer who took brilliant pictures!

The reception on hubby’s side was also really beautiful. They did almost everything themselves. Even the pelamin! Potong2 kayu and ketuk2 paku and everything. The flowers and the decorations semua buat sendiri. Even the caterers were relatives. And it was REALLY beautiful. A real garden wedding. Thank goodness it didn’t rain that day.

Following their tradition, they held a getting-to-know-the-relatives type of gathering that evening. I forgot to bring my green kebaya which was made specifically for the occasion. Aiyoh. I ended up borrowing my SILs baju. Nasib muat. I was a nervous wreck during this occasion cos hubby had warned me that someone will bring us around to salam and kenalkan every single one of his relatives and might be after all the introduction someone will ask “Makcik XXX yang mana? Gi salam balik Macik XXX”. Haaa…like I can remember everyones names. He had A LOT of relatives! Thank goodness that didn’t happen though. What did we have to do? We had to give a speech. And then we had to sing :-) Hubby hates to sing.

How was the honeymoon?

Wonderful! We went to Bali. We bought the tickets and booked the hotel during the last day of the Matta fair and got a really great bargain. We stayed here. Gorgeous place.

On Breastfeeding

Ok. Here’s a confession. I’ve been slacking of in the pumping department for the past week. I didn’t pump at all when we were in Bandung. Not even to pump and dump. All I did was direct feed her and did not even pump when I felt full during her mealtimes! So badd!!

And when I started working last week, I only pumped ONCE A DAY! And now, I’m only getting around 6-7oz daily when I know I can get double that if I just put in the effort.

The thing of it is, when we were in Labuan I was pumping away like nobody’s business. I was DIRECT FEEDING + PUMPING all the time. This was because I felt really full most of the time. Wanna know why?

Well before I went off, I read this from Fatin’s blog. I’ve drank it before, but I think it was either when I was pregnant or before that. Then totally forgot that it was even in the market cos it’s hard to come by at small markets/shops.

But masa kat Labuan, I saw it being sold everywhere and drank it like 3 times a day. And I constantly felt really full and had to pump several times a day. I brought back a lot of milk home from my trip to Labuan.

But the abundant supply of freezer stash is making me LAZY!!!

So now, I’m TRYING to build up my supply again. How?

I scare myself by thinking about Lyssa not wanting my nen-nen anymore. I’m not ready!!! Breastfeeding not only comforts her, but its comforting to me as well. And I’m just not ready to let that feeling go.

Reading this week’s newsletter from Babycenter.Com had me nodding with agreement at each paragraph. Here’s the copy paste for 8-month-old’s development: week 2.

Your baby’s now exploring objects by shaking them, banging them, dropping them, and throwing them before falling back on the tried-and-true method of gumming them. The idea that you do something to an object is beginning to emerge (using a comb to tidy her hair), so an activity center with lots of things your baby can bang, poke, twist, squeeze, shake, drop, and open will fascinate her.

Your baby will also be fascinated with toys that have specific functions, such as phones. If she can’t hold it up to her ear herself, do it for her and pretend to have a conversation. Over the next few months, she’ll start to use objects for their intended purposes — brushing her hair, drinking from a cup, and babbling on her play phone.

Watch for her to start pointing or looking at the correct picture when you name an object — especially if it’s something familiar (such as eyes, nose, or mouth) or beloved (like a dog or a rubber ducky).

Also, at this stage, your baby likes to see things fall down, get picked up (by you, of course), and then get thrown down again. She’s not trying to drive you mad. She just finds the spectacle interesting and naturally wants to see it again and again.”

Lyssa bangs everything given to her, shakes it and then gives it a taste. She loves her comb and would study at it intently. But she still doesn’t bring the comb to her hair. Though like I’ve mentioned before, she sits very still and lets us comb her hair, esp if its in front of the mirror. And her shoe…check out that pic of her trying to get a taste of the shoe!

Same goes for the handphone. She stares at the person if they are talking on their mobiles. Its like she’s curious about the whole concept of talking on the phone thing. She’s trying to make sense of what is going on. If I put the phone to my hear and say “Hello, can I talk to Lyssa please” she would immediately look at me and stare at me with those big curious eyes.

She doesn’t point at things yet but she does look at the direction of the object mentioned. There’s this bird’s nest right above the stairway of our front door that she recognizes. The birds will fly above our heads to get to their nest. When we say to Lyssa “Bird mana bird?” or “Tweet-tweet mana tweet-tweet?” She will straightaway look at the nest.

And that last paragraph about things falling down and getting picked up again? Huhuhuhu…so true! Dia jatuhkan, mommy angkat, dia jatuhkan, mommy angkat, dia jatuhkan, mommy angkat…dia gelak! Hahahahahaha…
